How to Configure Remoteyes IP Camera Smart Perimeter Detection on Guard Viewer APP NVR (OEM Setup Guide)

Overview

This guide is intended for OEM/ODM partners and system integrators configuring smart perimeter detection on NVR solutions. It covers setup of five AI-based detection features and how to link them to alarm outputs, push notifications, flashing lights, and audio alerts.

Detection features covered:
Cross Line Detection — triggers when a person or vehicle crosses a virtual tripwire
Intrusion Detection — triggers when an object enters a defined zone and remains
Enter Area — triggers the moment an object steps into a defined zone
Leave Area — triggers when an object exits a defined zone
Face Detection — detects and logs human faces entering the camera view

Requirement: These features require N-Series Deep Perimeter IPC cameras (models listed above). Standard cameras support basic motion detection only. N-Series cameras process AI analysis onboard at the camera level, significantly reducing false alerts from animals, wind, or lighting changes — a key selling point for end customers in retail, industrial, and residential project deployments.

Step 1 — Access VCA Config

  1. Open Guard Viewer APP NVR GUI OR BROWSER interface
  2. Tap Smart in the top navigation bar (marked as Arrow 1 in the screenshot)
  3. Select VCA Config from the left sidebar (Arrow 2)
  4. Use the Select Channel dropdown to choose the camera channel to configure (e.g., D9)

The VCA Config page displays four detection categories:
– Smart Intrusion Prevention
– Face Recognition
– People Counting
– Exception Detection & Statistics


Step 2 — Enable Detection Features

Under Smart Intrusion Prevention, four detection options are available (Arrow 3):

Feature Trigger Condition
Cross Line Detection Object crosses a virtual line
Intrusion Detection Object enters and stays in a defined zone
Enter Area Object enters a defined zone
Leave Area Object exits a defined zone

Under Face Recognition:

Feature Trigger Condition
Face Detection Human face detected in camera frame

To enable: Check the checkbox next to the desired detection type.

Analysis mode: For each feature, select Camera Side Analysis. This offloads AI processing to the IPC camera’s built-in chip rather than the NVR, resulting in faster response times and lower NVR CPU load — particularly relevant for high channel-count deployments using NVR508-64B or NVR3864-IQ.


Step 3 — Configure Detection Area (Cross Line Detection Example)

After enabling a detection feature, tap its gear icon (⚙) to open the configuration panel. Three tabs are available: Area, Arming Schedule, and Trigger Actions.

Area Tab

Drawing the detection zone:
1. In the camera preview, draw the detection line or polygon across the area to monitor
2. Tap Finish Drawing to confirm, or Clear to redraw
3. Each camera supports up to 4 detection areas

Object Size filtering (critical for reducing false positives in OEM deployments):

Min Size Filters out small objects (animals, debris) 120 × 120
Max Size Filters out oversized objects 9999 × 9999

Size values are applied independently for Motor Vehicle, Non-Motor Vehicle, and Human Body. All values are relative to a normalized 10000 × 10000 image scale.

Detection parameters:

Note for Intrusion Detection, Enter Area, and Leave Area: Configuration is identical to Cross Line Detection. The only difference is the shape drawn — a line for Cross Line, a polygon for the other three.


Step 4 — Set Arming Schedule

Under the Arming Schedule tab:

  • Define active time windows for each day of the week
  • Detection only fires during scheduled hours — no alerts trigger outside this window
  • Example: set 22:00–06:00 for after-hours perimeter protection only

For OEM partners providing white-label solutions: the arming schedule is one of the most common end-user configuration requests. Consider including a pre-configured default schedule in your deployment documentation.


Step 5 — Configure Trigger Actions

Under the Trigger Actions tab, select what happens when detection fires:

Conventional (NVR-side)

Action Description
Buzzer NVR emits local audible beep
Push Alarm Sends real-time push notification to Guard Viewer APP (enabled by default — recommended)
Alarm Sound Plays audio alert through NVR speaker output

Alarm Output

  • Links to external relay devices (e.g., D9→1) for wired siren, strobe, or access control integration
  • Useful for installations requiring integration with third-party alarm panels

Recording

  • Triggers simultaneous recording on selected channels (D1 through D9+)
  • Allows adjacent camera channels to begin recording when a specific zone fires

Goto Preset

  • For PTZ camera deployments: automatically repositions the camera to a preset angle on alarm trigger

Send Email

  • Sends event snapshot and timestamp to a preconfigured email address

Camera Linkage (IPC-side)

Action Description
Alarm Sound Activates built-in speaker on the IPC camera
Flashing Light Activates built-in warning light on the IPC camera

Recommended configuration for perimeter security deployments:
Enable Push Alarm + Camera Flashing Light + Camera Alarm Sound
This delivers immediate mobile notification while on-site audio and visual deterrents activate simultaneously — the most effective combination for unmanned perimeter installations.


Step 6 — Face Detection Setup

Face Detection is configured under the Face Recognition section using the same workflow:

  1. Check the Face Detection checkbox to enable
  2. Tap the gear icon to open settings
  3. Select Camera Side Analysis
  4. Configure Area, Arming Schedule, and Trigger Actions as described above

Face Detection captures timestamped snapshots of detected faces, suitable for access logging at building entrances, warehouses, or gated facilities. This is a frequently requested feature in Middle East and South Asia project deployments.


Configuration Checklist

Troubleshooting

Detection not triggering:
– Verify camera model is in the N-Series compatible list above
– Confirm Camera Side Analysis is selected
– Check arming schedule covers the current time period
– Increase sensitivity if the detection zone is at long range

Excessive false alerts:
– Reduce sensitivity to 50–60
– Increase minimum object size filter
– Set trigger direction to one-way

Push notifications not received:
– Verify Guard Viewer has notification permissions on the mobile device
– Confirm Push Alarm is checked in Trigger Actions
– Check NVR internet connectivity
